We are pleased to announce that the ‘Flip the Script’ book has been added to the beautiful new book store in the Photographers Gallery. The Photographers’ Gallery Bookshop sells an extensive selection of photography books, cards, magazines and merchandise and a unique range of camera equipment. For those that are not aware the newly built space is the UK’s first public gallery dedicated to photography. A mesmerising re-envisioning of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme was performed last night. Big Respect to Chaser Productions for putting this on! We were and still are in awe.. The Chapel at Kings College (The Strand, London) proved the perfect space for this experience:

From Guru’s Jazzmatazz project to Soweto Kinch, there have been several noble and notable attempts to find common ground between jazz and hip hop. Few, however, have been as successful as those of Houston-born pianist Robert Glasper

The Robert Glasper Experiment features Casey Benjamin on sax, soprano sax, synths and vocals, Derrick Hodge on electric bass and electric guitar, and Mark Colenburg on drum. The list of people he has worked with includes; Bilal (pictured after the Barbican show), Mos Def, The Roots, J Dilla, Erykah Badu, Common, Talib Kweli, Lalah Hathaway, Maxwell and Q-Tip.

On November 19 2011 none other than Masters At Work legend Louie Vega
headlined the DJ bill at Havana Cultura, the latest launch event in
Gilles Peterson’s album series. Louie played a special Nuyorican Soul
set not heard in the UK for many years.
As one of the many inspirations behind creating this book, special images
of Louie Vega & Elements of Life boast a double page spread. We
are so excited to hear a new album is on the way for 2012, along with the high anticipation of a M.A.W return to the UK in June.

We lost one of the greatest emcees in hip-hop on Apr.19, 2010. He was a giant, this pic was taken with trumpeter ‘Brownman Ali’ at his last show on UK soil..http://www.flipthescriptbook.com/prints.html

Even at this special intimate show at the 100 Club the energy was flowing just like the Gangstarr days. A revolutionary who transcended musical boundaries, can you imagine what the final Gangstarr album would have sounded like…?

Flip the Script has donated a book to the Stuart Hall Library Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) Rivington Place, London! We are pleased with the feedback: ” I loved the book! The photography captures each subject perfectly, and I really liked the accompanying captions”
The book has also been stocked at Virgin Megastores in Dubai where Infusion magazine were one of the first to review it.

In Oct 2011 Frontlineshop, a company from Hamburg Germany celebrated 25 years of street fashion, music and more in a special anniversary book.
Kingsley was honoured to contribute to this project with original archive photos of A Tribe called Quest along with Erykah Badu and Flying Lotus.
